KSNR currently operates 36,000 HA of palm plantation land in Indonesia and Malaysia, as a back end strategy for ensuring raw material self-sufficiency for its parent company, K S Oils Limited. Palm oil is the highest consumed edible oil in India and India is the second largest consumer and importer of Crude Palm Oil (CPO) in the world after China. Along with palm plantations, KSNR will invest in plantation assets and supply chain logistics to ensure efficiency and reduction in total raw material procurement costs.

Palm Plantations

KSNR invests in building palm plantations in Indonesia and Malaysia through its subsidiary companies. The Company has formed local subsidiaries in these two countries, which in turn have partnered with experienced local partners to develop sustainable and responsible palm plantations. Land acquisition is being done in co-operation with the local governments to ensure transparency and compliance with local regulations.

KSNR’s sustainable growth plan for the plantations emphasizes local engagement and local community welfare along with long-term growth for the Company. The Company has till date invested in three palm plantations - two in Indonesia and one in Malaysia. The Malaysian plantation has started yielding fruits, while the Indonesian plantations will be ready by 2012. We have ensured that the seedling and nursery development program is one of the best in the region, because good quality seeds are crucial for long-term productivity of our plantations. The seeds are of best quality, with high yield and greater productivity. The nursery currently has over one million saplings ready for plantation and is one of the largest nurseries in the region.

KSNR is committed to growing its palm plantation business in South Asia through Greenfield projects and acquisition of ready palm plantations with a target of 1,00,000 HA by 2015. The Palm Plantation Program follows a strict localized CSR program, Sustainable Environmental Plantation Policy, and Best Yield and Production Methodology. KSNR's palm plantations are one of the finest examples of harmony between nature and humans, both co-existing and meeting each other’s needs in a sustainable and ecologically friendly manner.
